Background
It was through painting and an interest in moving image and visual story telling
that Vincent Ward initially found his way to filmmaking. (Hons. Fine Arts, Ilam).
He has continued through sketches and painting pre-visualisation for his films
to keep his hand in. In the making of What Dreams May Come he devised a
painted world, building an aesthetic for motion painting which was recognised
with an Academy Award.
Wards current work includes motion painting moving image installations,
large format oil on canvas, multimedia and digital composite work and video art.
At the moment he is working towards a 2011-2012 exhibitions of his art work at
leading public art galleries in New Zealand. Exhibitions in the US and Paris are
also in discussion.
